The place for kitesurfing in New York City is Rockaway Inlet, a strait connecting Jamaica Bay with Atlantic Ocean. It separates Rockaway Peninsula in Queens from Manhattan Beach, Plumb Beach, and Barren Island (Floyd Bennett Field) in Brooklyn. Plumb Beach is part of Jamaica Bay Unit of Gateway National Recreation Area of National Parks of New York Harbor.
